Wage Ceiling
The statutory wage ceiling is ₹15,000/month. If Basic+DA > ₹15,000, PF is deducted on ₹15,000 (₹1,800 employee + ₹550.50 EPF + ₹1,250 EPS). You can opt out of the ceiling to contribute on the actual wage.
Tax on PF
Employee PF contribution up to ₹1.5 lakh/year is deductible under Section 80C. Interest (currently 8.25% p.a.) is tax-free if annual employee contribution ≤ ₹2.5 lakh. Withdrawal after 5 continuous years is tax-free.
Rates as per EPF Scheme, 1952 and EPS Scheme, 1995. Interest rate notified by Ministry of Labour for FY 2024-25: 8.25% p.a.
